Most new and Cat Reman cylinder rods are induction-hardened and inertia-welded. The resulting superior strength and dent resistance deliver longer component life and reduced risk of system contamination. Cat Cylinders and Rods are designed to allow for a variety of service / repair options.

Cat Cylinders feature an innovative sealing system that absorbs pressure spikes, withstands side loading, and guards against contaminant entry better than competitive designs.

• Cat New and Reman Rod-Eyes are attached to the Cylinder Rod through inertial welding which allows for a continuous bond vs. a standard arc weld.

  

• Cat Seals are designed and manufactured to meet stringent specifications.

  

• Cat New and Reman Rods are induction hardened to provide a surface that resists denting and scratching, thus reducing potential for system contamination.

  

• The Cylinder Barrel surface can be honed to correct damage, extend seal life and reduce the potential for contamination. Caterpillar recommends a light hone at time of seal replacement.
