High Performance Power Train

The Caterpillar 3114T turbocharged diesel engine, full-match torque converter, countershaft power shift transmission and heavy duty axles form a responsive, reliable and fuel efficient power train with more useable rimpull.

Caterpillar 3114T Engine

The 924F operates at full-rated net power of 78.3 kW (105 hp). The 3114T turbocharged diesel engine delivers long power strokes and high torque rise.

Torque Converter

Converter provides the most efficient application of engine power for maximum rimpull and responsive implement hydraulics. Maximizes both fuel efficiency and performance.

Cat Power Shift Transmission

Built rugged for highly reliable service in tough applications, the Cat Powershift Transmission is an electrically-controlled countershaft transmission providing four forward and three reverse speed ranges.

Caterpillar Axle and Brakes

Enclosed design allows extended operation even in the harshest environments. Oil-disc brakes are adjustment-free and fully enclosed.


Oscillating rear axle ensures four-wheel ground contact for optimum traction and stability. Fixed front, oscillating rear (±12 degree).

Final Drives

Planetary final drives consist of ring gears and planetary carrier assemblies.


Choose from standard, NoSPIN or Limited Slip differentials to adapt to a wide range of operating conditions. Limited Slip differentials are available on front, rear or both axles.


New Bucket design provides improved loadability of rehandled materials. Increased fill factors will lead to higher productivity. Designed for easy loading, high capacity and long life.

Frame Structure

All structural components of the 924F are integrated to form a stable, well-balanced system for best overall performance on a wide variety of applications.

Hydraulic System

Pilot-operated hydraulic controls are standard for easier operation. The hydraulic controls are a completely enclosed system with full-flow filtering and reusable couplings with O-Ring Face Seals.


Remote rear axle trunnion lubrication points simplify regular maintenance. Coolant sight gauge is now the same as used on larger 928F... which makes checking easier.
